2010 Constitution amendments
Article XIV – Amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws
Section 45. Proposed amendments shall be submitted to the Executive Board, in writing, 60 days prior to the fall meeting, by any active member in good standing.
Section 46. The executive board will consider the proposed changes and post them on the web site 30 days prior to the fall seminar. The secretary will notify all member fire services of the posting of proposed amendments via email.
Section 47 Proposed amendments shall pass by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present at the fall seminar.
Article X – Nominations for Executive Office
Section 28. Nominations for the officers of the Association shall be received and posted on the OAFTO web site no later than 30 days prior to the fall seminar.
A) In even numbered years nominations shall be held for the position of President, 2nd Vice President and Treasurer.
B) In odd numbered years the nominations shall be held for the positions of 1st Vice President, 3rd Vice President and Secretary.
Nominations shall be submitted in writing to the secretary by mail or e-mail. The secretary shall confirm the nomination by contacting both the nominator and candidate. A member may be a candidate for only one office.
Section 29. An individual is eligible for office only when:
-The individual, in good standing, belongs to an active fire service
-The individual has demonstrated regular attendance at general meetings; no fewer than 2 meetings in a calendar year.
Section 30. The election to fill the positions of the executives will be held at the fall seminar. The newly elected executive will assume the duties of their office at the conclusion of that meeting. All outgoing members of the executive shall turn over all Association property to the newly elected candidate within 30 days.
The fall conference runs from Monday 04 October to Friday 08 October
There will be elections for the following members of the executive: President, 2nd vice and Treasurer at the meeting that will be held at the Ontario Fire College Monday 04 October 2010 at 1830 hrs.
