Hello Ontario Trainers, The OAFTO exec is working hard in preparation of the virtual TOW taking place in September! It seems we are all starting to emerge from the last 18 months and things are ramping up at a blistering pace. Take some time to look through this Blast and enjoy. OAFTO ELECTIONS As per our constitution elections will be held for the following executive positions at our upcoming TOW in September. 1st Vice President, 3rd Vice President and Secretary. Nominations must be sent to the secretary so please forward them to me and I will contact the nominees to confirm. As we continue to move forward with the launch of our new website can we please have each department send us a list of current members from your department that need to be included. If you could provide that with their contact email it would greatly assist us in cleaning up the contact information as we shift to the new platform. DEPARTMENT REQUESTS Gravenhurst Fire Department Training officer Tracy Jocque is looking for assistance in regards to Aerial Training as they have just purchased their first apparatus! If you can answer any or all of the following questions please contact her directly. 1) OG’s regarding this type apparatus (platform and/or mid-mount)(operation, training) 2) Do you delineate apparatus driver vs. platform operator – what is expected of these individuals to “certify” 3) If this was the first time receiving this apparatus what training did you do with it 4) Do you perform annual “re-certs” 5) Do you have different rules for which drivers can drive it and how to “certify/clear” them to drive it? 6) Do you have any training material that you would be willing to share Tracy.Jocque@gravenhurst.ca

TOW 2021 As we mentioned at the start, the TOW will be taking place this September and it will be in a virtual format. There will be more information coming in the next few weeks in regards to scheduling and registration. Hopefully you will be able to participate with us as we do our best to stay in touch and continue with the development of our members to prepare you for the delivery of quality training within your department.
