Welcome to September 2021 and what a big month it is. Kids are back in school (for now), municipal budgets for next year are being hammered out, democracy is in full swing with a federal election upon us, and most importantly the Training Officers Workshop and AGM is just weeks away! This blast is filled with a number of important updates or announcements regarding fire service training. Thank you for your continued support as you take some time to get caught up and hopefully can take advantage of some of the opportunities presented. OAFTO ELECTIONS Nominations for executive positions closed on Tuesday August 24. The OAFTO executive would like to announce that the positions of 1st Vice President, 3rd Vice President and Secretary have gone uncontested and will continue with Reno Levesque, Jamie MacNeil and Paul Calleja respectively continuing in each role. If you have not filled out an application you will find an attachment to this Blast for you to access. Also, we are now opening in up for departments to apply for more than two members to attend! Lyle Quan The following message is being sent on behalf of Academic Manager, Lyle Quan Dear Chiefs and/or Designates; As of September 24th, 2021, I will be leaving the OFMEM/OFC to take on new challenges with another organization outside of the OFMEM/OFC. To ensure as seamless a transition as possible, and to take advantage of my remaining time, it was decided that all future emails, that would normally be directed to my attention, be sent to Assistant Deputy Fire Marshal, John Snider at john.snider@ontario.ca. For my remaining time with the organization, I will continue to work with ADFM Snider and the rest of the team here at the OFMEM/OFC to assist and support as needed.
